BREAKING NEWS…

WE DID IT!

We have received news from Essex County Council that a school crossing patrol officer has been approved!

They told us…

Due to road safety concerns relating to pupils of Edward Francis Primary School, Essex County Council was asked to conduct an assessment to establish whether the zebra crossing on the B1013, Hockley Road, meets the criteria for the introduction of a school crossing patrol.

A pedestrian count was undertaken on Thursday 25 September. This confirmed the location near to the mini roundabout (junction with Victoria Road/Uplands Park Road) meets the eligibility for a crossing patrol.

Essex County Council will now arrange for a highways safety audit to take place. This will consider the measures required for an employee to work safety in the road at this location.

Once this has taken place, we will work with the school and other parties to recruit a school crossing patrol officer to support pedestrians on their journeys to and from schools in the area.
